Reader Question: Hi there, I was told by my grandmother of a gorgeous old copper farm sink company that I thought was in Iowa somewhere. I recall the name “Brooksbay” BUT I can not find anything about them on the Internet? I might have the name totally wrong???
Liz
Hi Liz, I am not sure about that name either. I think a popular company in Iowa is “Brook Tree” but I only found 1 website that talked about them and only found this one picture of a copper farm sink. Sorry I could not help more. I would love to hear from other readers if they know of this company Liz is talking about.

Copper in the kitchen is in fashion, and why not? It adds a touch of rustic charm to any home. If you’re thinking about getting one, the first question you might be asking is: Is copper difficult to maintain?
Surprisingly, copper farmhouse sinks require little maintenance. Soap, water and some soft cloth ought to get the job done. But if you prefer a shinier or glossier look then a copper cleaner may be used. Just be very careful, though, not to use strong chemicals and tough abrasive materials in cleaning in order to keep the surface clean, elegant and undamaged. Also if you choose copper for your farm sink, be a little more careful not to pour concentrated vinegar on it. There are products you can purchase in stores and online which can give your copper farm house sink a little extra protection.
Copper farmhouse sinks can be very classy to look at. It is also said that it never really stops changing in color and appearance, making it more beautiful over time.
One website offers yet another interesting thought, and that is buying copper farm house sink can be an environmental choice. A website, coppersinksonline.com, for instance, offers copper farm house sink manufactured from recycled copper but beautifully crafted for your kitchen or bathroom.
And what about buying from eBay? For as long as you know how to spot good quality, eBay can also be a good place to look and shop. Just remember not all copper farmhouse sinks are made the same way. The quality of the copper and the craftsmanship of the sink set each item apart. Remember, too, that you might be missing out on good services and other guarantees, which a reliable supplier can provide.
But at the end of the day, the important thing is that you have got yourself a good quality item at a price you can afford!
